Philip Brice, Author

Read More Success Stories Here!

The Author Learning Center (ALC) gave Philip the guidance and support he needed to stay on track and bring his dream to life.

Motivated by divine inspiration and the support of his eldest son, Philip wanted his book to serve as both labor of love and the fulfillment of a personal goal. Yet, while he had no shortage of ideas and will, the path to published author was unclear.

Armed with the ALC's guidance and support he was able to breathe life into his book.

Philip aimed to take readers on a wild ride with his book. A fantasy with all the twists, turns and fun characters one would expect to find under the cover. All thrown into the mixer with one kingdom that had established a love/hate relationship with its resident dragon. Topped off by the poor hero, a wielder seasoned with wisdom by age and confronted by some serious challenges. Philip's world was fantastic. But as an author, it was easy to wander off course.

"The ALC kept me modest and on track!"

The simple yet effective layout of the ALC caught my attention from the start. As my wife can affirm, I can at times be impatient. The ALC eliminated any wasted time spent sitting through lengthy directions only to be hindered by poorly programmed applications, minimal guidelines and website limitations. Whenever I felt myself sinking into the quagmire of all the tasks that go into writing and completing a book, the ALC kept me modest and on track! The ALC's robust content, streamlined programs and useful tools enabled me to spend my time writing and not on the phone with tech support. Trust me, as an I.T. Senior Systems Engineer with twenty-seven years of experience this is worth its weight in gold!

To anyone who desires to write and publish a book, my thoughts are as follows:

  1. Setting goals conquers procrastination! Use the ALC! It's the most useful of tools!
  2. READ, READ and READ! Read every subject. I read and study the Bible for great inspiration.
  3. Be disciplined, get a mentor and write. Set aside time to write and always carry two items with you. A book and a notepad. Some writers, like King, write four hours a day with something like ten thousand words! Me, I write early in the morning before work. When inspiration hits during work, I jot it down in the notebook and come back to it later.
  4. Grow rhino skin and find your courage. You will need it - Especially against critics and YOURSELF.
  5. NEVER, EVER throw in the towel! Keep yourself spiritually and mentally sound. This sounds stupid and cliché but PLEASE set aside personal and family time.

Then, JUST DO IT… And read Robert Fulghum's wisdom in "All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kingdergarten." It will warm your heart.
