Self-Published Novel Picked up by Traditional Publisher - podcast

Self-publishing helped author P.J. Hoover sell both her book "Solstice" and "The Middle Grade Story" to a traditional publisher. She credits the publicity she initiated and the way she outlined these efforts for the publisher for facilitating the book deal.

  • Hi everyone, this is my very first posting on this site. My first book is due to be printed this month. The genre is masculinity, fatherlessness and its effects from a Christian perspective. The challenge now is to market it. I will get some advice from author house as part of the publishing deal i have with them. But i guess my question is 'What in your experience is the best way to promote my book once it is printed which is this month'? My name is Nigel and i live about an hour south of London. Thanks.
  • Hello Patricia, it really does not cost too much to proof read and edit a book. I recently came across Fiverr.com all you need is to register and look for editors. Average I think is about 1000 - 5000 words for $5.00
  • Hi Bobby! Its all about having the right book for the right publisher. And a lot of patience! Best wishes in your publishing journey!
  • How did you get a traditional publisher to sign you.
  • Congrats P.J. When people take initiative nothing but great things will happen. Just as it did for you in self promoting. troy.legette@gmail.com
