Not only does this help the rejection hurt less, but it’s also a wise career move. With more material in circulation, an author has more chances to sell his or her work. Iriarte finds that it’s simpler to sell short stories when he has a large content bank built up. This is, he says, partly coincidental, but he sold most of his work within a month of reaching his short fiction inventory goal.
