From the first time he read The Lord of the Rings as a young boy, David had an interest in and a fascination with elves. That, coupled with his love of space travel and magic, inspired him to write the book Crisis, an Empire of Elves novel. Once published, though, he needed to market his book–and that's where the ALC came in.

I had worked on my book for a number of years and thought about sharing it on specific fan fiction sites. However, the more research I did, the more I realized I needed to self-publish my book. It was truly a thrill to hold a copy of my book when it arrived, but I also knew I needed to get the word out and market it.
I understood the pieces of marketing, but I didn’t know how to put the elements into a plan. That is where the Author Learning Center really helped. The Book Launch tool has a tab for marketing with suggested tasks to complete. I used those to create a plan to build awareness and attract followers on social media. I also took advantage of the advice on marketing to make sure I was doing what the experts recommend.
Make no mistake. Marketing a book takes work, but if you have a plan, even a first time author can do it effectively. And I am pleased to say by following the plan the ALC helped me create, I am building my following on Twitter and Facebook. Please reach out to me on either platform. I look forward to connecting with you there or through the Author Learning Center.
