D’Ette Owen had an important story to tell. After being encouraged by many to write a book, she set out to publish her collection of stories so she could share it with others. While struggling through the writing process, she discovered the ALC and was able to get the education and guidance she needed to push through to the end.
Read what D'Ette has to share:
I’ve always shared my personal stories, but I hadn’t considered actually putting them into a book. It was only after many recollections at church and leadership seminars that I was encouraged to compile them together and publish it.
At first, I struggled to find the time to write, so I gradually started to adjust my schedule to allow for an hour of writing per day. I joined the Author Learning Center early in the writing process. I felt like a fish out of water, but the ALC gave me the focus and education I needed. The learning content guided me through all the elements I was unfamiliar with while writing.
As I work on my second book, I have found the Book Launch Tool very helpful. I know there can be a lot of work after the writing process. The Book Launch Tool has really helped me figure it all out.
My advice to other authors who are struggling to write is to be okay with being uncomfortable. Your story needs to come out and others need to hear it. Go ahead and push through so you can offer the blessing of your story to others. The Author Learning Center can help you do that.
We're so confident the ALC can help you, we want to pay for your first 30 days. Subscribe today to start taking advantage of the unique combination of content, connections and tools that will help you reach YOUR goal – no matter where you are on your writing and publishing journey!
D’Ette Owen shares the story of her family’s adventures moving cross-country to Alaska with their three wild boys in tow. She also describes how she and her husband gathered a gaggle of other kids, their “collectible children,” along the way, raising them with the wide range of parenting skills that such a diverse group required and gaining her the nickname Momma Dee. Throughout it all, Momma Dee’s mission is to survive her rambunctious family and find her own purpose.
