Challenges of Writing Mid Grade and YA Fiction - podcast

Author P.J. Hoover defines young adult and middle age fiction. She defines the middle grade genre as Harry Potter fans, or advanced second grade readers and older. Hoover defines the age range for young adult fiction as seventh grade and older. Hoover explains a challenge of writing for younger market is having to skirt around some of the details, like how gods married their brothers and sisters in ancient mythology. She shares that parents will read these YA books with their children, so you can get away with more.
