Jennifer Brody on Writing The 13th Continuum Trilogy - podcast

Inspired by the events surrounding the BP oil spill, young adult sci-fi author, Jennifer Brody, began writing a story about what life would be like if humans could no longer live on the surface of the earth. She imagined a place where underwater, underground and outerspace colonies would be necessary for long-term human survival. She didn't initially intend for the book, The 13th Continuum, to be a series, but realized as the story unfolded that it needed to be a trilogy. Her writing approach and strategy were to greatly advance the narrative arc through the three books, while keeping them connected and integral to the overall story.
