In order to be recognized as an expert, you have to be willing to demonstrate that expertise. For Michael Kelly, partner at Developer Town, this meant building a blog and developing a presence, speaking locally and at conferences. It also inspired a concept he embraced: profit per idea. Kelly decided to maximize the way his ideas were delivered. For each unique idea he had, he wrote articles with the goal of securing speaking engagments. Once achieved, he would pursue consulting contracts. Within two years, Kelly had gone from a writing hobby to an income stream that surpassed his tech salary and proved more personally satisfying.
