The over-arching theme for author Beth Hermes fiction series developed from a conversation about serendipity and life events that happen by chance. She decided to take a twist on this idea and apply it to a novel. When she reached the end of her first manuscript she realized that the main character's story didn't have to end, so she re-wrote the ending to support a series. Hermes brainstormed ideas for future book titles and came up with eleven potential titles, all related to her serendipity theme. What started as a pet writing project for Hermes has now turned into an ongoing fantasy series titled The Lightbearers. How does she keep readers engaged with her series? By allowing herself to be surprised by the new characters and story lines that develop, and in turn, surprising her readers.
I think it is beyond my reach.
