  • I think this is excellent advice because a lot of people, friends and readers, tell you what you want to hear instead of giving you the truth. The truth may be uncomfortable but in the end is what we need most. Ouch! I felt that! now I'm back to 'fixing' my memoir. Thank you for being honest. Giddy
  • Hi Patricia! Writing circles and peer reviews are great ways to start the editing process. We have some great information on here regarding editing. Check out Joel Pierson's clip on writing and editing traps to avoid. Hope it helps!
  • I have published my first book through a self publisher and now that the book is finished and published I was told by my friend that there were mistakes in the book. I don't know how it will effect me as a Author but I was inspired by the Lord to write and I wrote. I couldn't afford a editor to edit my book so there are mistakes. Can you advise me on this please. Thank you.

Hi Obi - I agree that it's great adivce. I love how he says that the first time he produced a publishable novel it got published. :) There is sure alot of variance in what one person or another might think is good... so it's important for we authors to do our level best to produce quality and to have high standards for ourselves as to what that means.

So glad you liked this interview Henrietta! I, too, like the point he makes about the core focus being the quality of the book. I think once you have that the rest is easier and without that the rest (marketing, PR, sales) are all much harder. Always a good reminder for us that quality writing is the foundation.
