Producer Craig Miller on the Writing Process for His 'Star Wars' Memoir

Writer and producer Craig Miller decided to put together a memoir about his time working on Star Wars after being told for years by friends, family, and convention-goers that he certainly had enough stories to fill a book. This is how his new memoir, Star Wars Memories: My Time In The (Death Star) Trenches, came to be. In the beginning of his book writing process, Miller pulled stories he had shared on his Facebook account to get started. These only added up to about 6,000 words. So, Miller started writing anecdotal accounts of his Star Wars years, and ended up with over 100,000 words. He was even able to secure a foreword from Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back producer Gary Kurtz before his passing.
