Knowing Your “Why” When Writing a Nonfiction Educational Book


WGA Screenwriter, author, and MFA educator Michael Tabb didn’t set out to make a lot of money with his educational book, “Prewriting Your Screenplay: A Step-by-Step Guide to Generating Stories “. His goal was and still is to educate writers that want to be successful in the entertainment business. He advises authors to understand early on why you are writing your book. Are you writing your book for enjoyment, to honor someone, or maybe to make money? Whatever pushes you to write your book, you need to hold on to that purpose, per Tabb, as this is what will drive you and make you feel fulfilled at the end of the day.
