Trends in the Marketplace for Faith-Based Books and Memoirs


The book marketplace is constantly evolving with topics and genres coming in and out of popularity. While there are many types of books that can create a buzz, W Publishing Group Senior Marketing Manager Katherine Hudencial says nonfiction faith-based books and memoirs that readers can apply to their own lives are most appealing right now. Books that give readers concrete takeaways and address felt needs are what readers are gravitating towards and sharing with others. On the other hand, books that address current events more abstractly are overwhelming readers, she says, and are not performing well.

Two topics in particular that Hudencial sees gaining popularity are books on the Rapture and on parenting, due to universal concerns in the world. The more applicable a book is to daily life, the more readers are responding. This includes how-to books and transformative storytelling that lead readers on a specific path.
