Ghostwriting: Being Someone Else's Voice - podcast

What makes a good ghostwriter? Ghostwriter Hudson Perigo shares her expert ghostwriting tips. She describes the art of ghostwriting and the role of the ghostwriter in the partnership between the ghostwriter and the client. A ghostwriter is hired to interpret and write someone else's story, much like an actor taking on a role. A good ghostwriter becomes the client, brings structure to the story, and captures the client's voice.

Hi Maria -- I'm sorry, but we don't make direct recommendations for freelancers here on the ALC as we don't offer a network of vetted and verified freelance resources. You might try checking with your local writing groups, maybe even a librarian could help find a ghostwriter in your area. Another option would be to check online resources such as mediabistro.com, the American Society of Journalists and Authors, as both are likely to have referrals for you. You can also try sites that freelancers use to procure customers, such as Guru.com, Odesk.com, elance.com. If you search online for the term "freelance ghostwriter" you'll find lots of resources as well. Each of these resources will be responsible for their own recommendations and we are not affiliated with any of them. But I thought it might be a good list of starting resources for you.

Hi Maria -- Hudson was kind enough to let us interview her but she is not on staff here at the Author Learning Center so she's not available to answer you directly. But perhaps I can help. The cost will depend greatly on the scope of work you are interested in, the person you hire (how they charge, their years of experience, their area of expertise). We have a clip from Hudson discussing how much she gets paid, which can give you some idea of what she would charge. To view the clip, search on "Ghostwriting: What does it pay?". You might also like "What to look for in a ghostwriter" and "Finding a ghostwriter or collaborator". If you search on "Ghostwriter" here on the ALC you'll find these and many other content items related to ghostwriting. Also, I'd encourage you to search on "freelance" to find content on working with freelancers, how to find a freelancer, and more. Many of those are related to finding freelance book designers, editors, etc. But the principles will likely apply to finding a freelance ghostwriter to work with.
  • Dear Hudson, I was watching your ghostwriting Video and just wanted to know about how it works and how much it will cost? Please if you don't mind can you send me a mail on my email ID. Thanks and warm regards.
