Utilizing Newsletters, Online Promotions, and Book Events to Reach Readers

Booking marketing can be overwhelming and creating awareness for your book can be challenging with the amount of books in the marketplace. Award-winning author, screenwriter, and editor Mike Robinson has found that a combination of digital/online efforts and in-person appearances can be the most effective way to build a readership. He recommends that authors have an email newsletter that they send on a consistent basis, and that they keep their social media pages updated and active as well. For online promotions, he advises authors submit to platforms like BookBub.

For in-person events, he says it's time to get back to conferences and festivals where you have a booth to sell your book or you speak on panels to create awareness for your work. If you can't afford to go to these events solo, he recommends pooling your resources with other authors. Authors supporting other authors is a great way to build a comradery and following.

Two digital platforms that Robinson recommends authors get up to speed on are Amazon Ads and Publisher Rocket.
