Simon Element / Simon Acumen’s Elizabeth Breeden on How the Marketing Team Supports Authors


The timing and level of marketing support Simon Element and Simon Acumen authors receive is determined on a case by case basis, says Senior Marketing Director Elizabeth Breeden. Ideally, her team is involved with a book from acquisition through launch, making themselves available throughout the entire marketing campaign, and becoming more involved six months prior to a book's release.

Her team assists authors with various book marketing tasks including social media and audience identification, and aim to bring an experienced, fresh perspective to each book. In addition, Breeden's team provides support for digital assets, messaging, and building out an author ecosystem. For authors with a strong platform already in place, they work to bring the book into the existing ecosystem.

A big part of the marketing team's role leading up to launch is to drive preorders to ensure a successful launch, and to give the book longevity. Her team stays in regular communication with author clients and strives to understand each book from the inside out.
