Author events are a wonderful addition to your book marketing campaign, whether it’s a book signing event, online seminar, or public speaking event. But you only have one chance to make a first impression. Author and publishing consultant PJ Campbell provides tips for a successful author event. The number one thing to having a successful author appearance is to be prepared. Rehearse what you are going to do. Give yourself enough time to prepare. Whether it's online or in person, preparing will allow you to engage your audience and be passionate. Tone has a big impact on your audience. I agree with you when using the word "expectation" in explaining a successful book campaign. What is the audience looking for that the book can provide? In my case when explaining the pitfalls and successes at wagering at the races I would deem it necessary that the book not only highlight the victories, but acknowledge the defeats.

Thanks PJ. Great information! I am in the process of writing an allergy free cookbook and this was very helpful.

Don't think I heard anything I didn't know. BUT putting it to use and how to use is a compelling push to do that which I find I really prefer not to do. A kick where I need it most.
