With so many channels available for people to receive information and entertainment, book publicity strategies need to be multi-platform, layered to reach multiple audiences where they live online. Lindsay Gordon, director of publicity for Gotham Books and Avery, recommends bottoms up approach. Authors need to create a strong online presence via a website that contains images and links to the social media platforms that best target their audience. From there, publicity outreach is focused on traditional/national print and online media for reviews and syndication, morning shows on TV, radio interviews, weekly magazines and local media, which are likely to be interested in an author's origins and future path. Podcasts are becoming increasingly popular; authors are well advised to explore podcast interviews as well.
