Generating Publicity - video

Whether your book is self-published or traditionally published, generating publicity for your book is an important part of your marketing campaign. Author Daylle Deanna Schwartz offers tips on how to generate publicity as an author. She describes how having a willingness to say “yes” to opportunities will open other doors, building a stronger author brand and platform. Even if jobs are unpaid, you get name recognition and experience that may lead to your next big publicity opportunity. While online marketing is important, it's also necessary to market offline if you want to generate publicity. Some ideas for offline marketing include distributing postcards about your book, attending networking events, and speaking at events. When you want to get on television or radio shows, put together a press kit with sample interview questions to distribute to select shows. No show is too small—saying yes to one show can help leverage the next, bigger one. Lastly, to find marketing success, your book has to have a hook, which includes a unique book title.

  • Sorry this didn't help you Cliff. If you are looking for information on selecting a title, I suggest you search "Writing Great Titles" and you will find an on demand webinar by Nat Gertler that you might find helpful.
