One of the key book publicity trends that Anne Robertson, managing director of public relations at Lavidge, is seeing is new authors taking more control of their brand and marketing message.  She believes this trend will continue to accelerate with all of the self-publishing options available to writers today. Robertson is also seeing an increase in authors getting more involved and engaged with their communities, allowing them to find a niche. She advises authors to keep current with trends, especially in social media, but to stay focused on doing what's best for them. Authors don't always have to follow the trends to be successful.
