Award-winning author Kaitlin Solimine has made many connections through writing groups, writing residencies, and academics over the years, and much of her career has been focused on research. These experiences, along with some encouraging entrepreneurial friends, led to her co-founding Hippo Reads. Hippo Reads is an online network connecting academic insights and scholars to the wider public, giving them a place to publish their work. The creation of this site has led to other opportunities in the corporate world and it has evolved into a larger platform that serves both academics and corporations. This for-profit, thought-leader site now employs several people and has been called "TED Talks for readers."
