Finding Enjoyment in the Editing and Revision Process - video

For author Bryan Beach, the editing process is the most important and the most enjoyable part of a writing project. He feels a great sense of accomplishment when that first draft is complete and recommends to other writers they put the initial draft away before going back for revisions and rewrites. Beach finds that it is much easier to notice mistakes or areas of the writing that need to be strengthened when you've had the chance to step away. Taking the editing process seriously is critical to maintaining continuity and to producing the best possible manuscript. No matter how much time is spent on the first draft, it will never be perfect. Beach welcomes the opportunity to make these improvements and changes to his own work.

  • You make some good points.  An author should appreciate anyone who can help them create a better book.  The author can still control how that better is defined.
